Makers’ Residency reopens with Wilfrid Wood

This week saw the reopening of MakersResidency, a curated creative workspace in our public-facing window in east London.

Starting this week and running until November 23, we’re collaborating with six London-based makers who will be using the Hanbury Street space to create, live in front of the public.

This year’s MakersResidency is kicking off with sculpture artist Wilfrid Wood (Spitting Image), who’ll be inviting members of the public for a live, 30-minute portrait sculpting.

From October 22, passersby will be able to watch London-based multimedia designer Kelly Anna at work, while the following week will see floral design studio Worm create a Halloween-themed installation.

The fourth maker, taking up residency from November 5, is stop-motion animator Matthew Cooper, who will be followed by 3D chocolate printers, Candy Mechanics. Finally, from November 19, Cool Shit will be bringing their giant inflatable expertise to the space.

Please pop down to Hanbury St to see the makers at work!

Sainsbury’s goes Round The Twist for Halloween

This Halloween, Sainsbury’s is shining a light on its new range of products with a stop-motion animated spot directed by Mark Waring, animation director on Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs.

The 30” film follows a petrified pumpkin, spooked by Sainsbury’s Halloween products as it lip-syncs cult 1990s TV theme song ‘Round the Twist’. The pumpkin was crafted by Andy Gent who has created puppetry for Hollywood films including Isle of Dogs, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

The TVC, which is produced by Passion Pictures is supported by cinema, print and VOD advertising.
