Welcome to Optimism

It’s Nice That profiles Makers’ Residency

Maisie Willoughby, Creative Producer at Wieden+Kennedy London, spoke to the lovely folks at It’s Nice That ahead of the latest Makers’ Residency, launching on April 26. Mixed media artist Gutless Wonder will take up residency this week, culminating in an exhibition at our Hanbury Street office on May 4.

Maisie told It’s Nice That: “Gutless wonder felt like a contemporary addition to the curation given her use of modern technique. She is the optima of modern craft, exactly what Wieden+Kennedy hopes to celebrate through Makers’ Residency.”

Hannah Bould will join Makers’ Residency

Next maker to join Makers’ Residency is ceramicist Hannah Bould.

Since 2014, Hannah has worked out of her garden studio in North London, making wheel-thrown functional stoneware pottery, with clean lines and simple shapes. With a background in Printmaking, she likes to focus on both graphic and painterly mark making and is interested in creating unique pieces that simultaneously sit happily amongst a collection.

Hannah will be at W+K London from the 24th March until the 6th April. Each piece made within the residency is individual and exclusive to Makers’ Residency. You’ll also be able to see her making live on the website.
