Welcome to Optimism

Good Jobs Campaign

The Good Jobs Campaign is a project we ran in partnership with Citizens UK to match employers in the creative industries with local, young and diverse talent. The aim is to tackle two of the UK’s biggest issues: skills shortages and social mobility. We ran a program of four training sessions for a group of students from two local secondary schools that helped them to develop industry specific skills. At the end of the sessions we selected the two most promising candidates and offered them a month long internship with us through August.

It was lovely Fahmida and Irem who joined us in August. In addition to their writings about their experience at W+K, here is a film that we put together. They shot and edited some of the footage themselves.

Fresh faces

We have a rather creative batch of fresh faces at W+K to introduce to you. Keep scrolling to find out more.
Alex+Linda
Alexandra Sattlecker & Linda Weitgasser, Creatives
Alex & Linda join from Saatchi & Saatchi London, where they spent their first six years in the industry. They both grew up in tiny Austrian ski resorts which is why they still love winter and everything that comes with it and don’t understand why the UK comes to a shut down when one inch of snow falls. Linda is one hell of a cross stitcher and always has some creative projects running on the side. Alex used to teach skiing, did a marathon and is currently planning on cycling her way to Paris.
Tom
Tom Watkins, Creative
Tom joined us straight after finishing university. This half Finn half Brit Portsmouth supporter describes himself as “a highly multi-disciplined creative sports nut with a passion for film making and travel in his free time.” At 6ft 3in, Tom is one of our taller creatives.
