I can’t sleep on planes. It’s a curse, but no matter how long the flight, i will not sleep. It’s gone further than that as it seems to have run over into the remainder of our holiday. I couldn’t sleep poolside at the hotel, even after the obligatory pina coladas, or in our hotel room overlooking bangkok. Obviously no sleep on the flight to phuket or further on to Koh Phi Phi. Became too damn hot to sleep on the white sandy beach, even when i had my hammock set up, and no amount of swimming in the sea seemed to tire me. We’ve already eaten ourselves halfway round the island but the full stomach isn’t making me so much as doze, even with all the lobster tails in the region nestled in my stomach (and more pina coladas). It wasn’t till we danced all night at the Carlito bar, throwing back bucket cocktails and cheap shots by the shore, that we were able to stagger back to our bungalow and i get some rest. It’s not the easiest holiday, but i am trying.

Both Amanda and I suffer from selachophobia (fear of sharks), so there’s no swimming too deep or riding the banana boat (it goes too far out where the sharks hang out… i’m guessing). Tied to that, Amanda has developed a constant paranoia of coconuts falling on her head (i don’t know the phobic name for that), so again it’s not all plain sailing. We’re doing our best just trying to chill and are constantly thinking of you all at work to calm our nerves.

Beanie: Haven’t used the frisbee yet but will once i find someone to play with or need it for a plate to slice some tropical fruit on.
Guy: Almost hit the hotel Asia, but the breakfast at the four star novotel is just irresistable. They have sushi for breakfast man. Sushi!
Nico: No ladyboys willing to come to london and work for a sweet south african couple yet, but still trawling the bars and asking.

Fishing trip and excursion to the uninhabited Bamboo island tomorrow, and to keep the chill factor going i’ll be thinking of you all.
