As a part of the Nokia N8 launch campaign Wieden + Kennedy has created a mobile app that lets you make music anywhere, with anything.  We made the app super easy to use, so even people with no musical ability can easily make a track. Loop comes preprogrammed with nine basslines to get amateurs looping with ease, and for the more advanced looper, the BPM and pad sounds can be customised.

Once a loop is made, it can be set as your ringtone, or shared on Facebook via Soundcloud. You can hear some of the loops already shared at loopapp.net  The app was created in collaboration with Symsource, who did a great job on the back end. If you have a Nokia N8 or C7, you can download the app for free at Nokia’s Ovi store. Get looping!

Listen to Tony, Kim, Neil and Andy providing vocals in ‘W+K Creative Review Loop’ here.

And to promote the Loop app we decided to create a track in a poodle parlour called, funnily enough, Poodle Loop. The loop was created by musician Warrior One on a Nokia N8, and shot on location in Shanghai, official home of coloured dogs. The film, part demo, part documentary, part music video, was directed by Kim Gehrig of Academy Films. The graphics shown in the film were taken from Loop’s unique interface.

Enjoy – and do download Loop for free if you have a Nokia N8 or C7 at Nokia’s Ovi Store.

Wieden + Kennedy is Campaign’s network of the year 2010

Wieden + Kennedy is Campaign magazine's network of the year 2010.

Network of the Year 2
They say W+K ‘touched a global popular culture nerve in 2010 like no other. Wieden + Kennedy, the one time quirky alternative to the big shops, made its clients Nike and Old Spice the world’s most viral brands this year. The micro-network demonstrated true creative excellence and left bigger, older rivals in the shade.’

In other W+K-related news from Campaign, Nike ‘Write the Future’ was named campaign of the year.

Nike-Write-The-Future
“Only one brand won this year’s FIFA World Cup and that was Nike. This was thanks to a three minute film that mixed fantasy with football to such a degree that it became a global phenomenon and trounced rivals such as adidas in terms of positioning.”

Campaign of the Year 2
Nike also got best poster of the year and 2nd best TV ad of the year. One of our Honda press ads was named best regional press ad of the year and Nike Grid got number 6 in the ‘best poster’ charts while Lurpak ‘Pride’ was number 9. Nike Grid was also number 3 in best digital campaigns.  Old Spice and Nike were numbers 1 and 2 in top 10 virals.

Great results. Big congratulations to all!
