Wieden + Kennedy takes top prize at One Show Interactive

Wieden+Kennedy Portland’s Chalkbot campaign for the Nike Livestrong Foundation claimed Best of Show at the 13th annual One Show Interactive awards.

Some good news for our network: Wieden+Kennedy Portland's Chalkbot campaign for the Nike Livestrong Foundation claimed Best of Show at the 13th annual One Show Interactive awards, held on May 14 in New York.

The campaign, inspired by the Tour de France tradition of ‘chalking' the pavement, gave web users around the world the chance to leave messages of hope in the fight against cancer via text message along the tour route. A robotic chalker – or Chalkbot – was used to turn people's texts into chalk messages on the route of the Tour during the 25 day event.

The Nike Livestrong Chalkbot chalked thousands of people's messages along the route of the Tour de France, inspiring Lance Armstrong and spectators around the world.

Contagious magazine loved chalkbot so much that they used it for the cover of their current issue.

Here's a quote from their cover letter:


"At contagious, we've always been huge believers in the fact that a great idea is most likely to strike away from the comfy chairs and the corner office. it starts, more often than not, with the people you're talking to. Small wonder, then, that nike's chalkbot initiative made the front cover of issue 20. This is digital advertising done not for the sake of ticking a box on an increasingly complex media plan, but because the idea couldn't exist without the technology. and that, dear readers, is what we've been driving at all this time."
