Creatives Behind the Lens is an exhibition of photography sponsored by Corbis that offered an opportunity for anyone working in the creative industries,in any capacity (except professional photographers) to show that creativity stretches beyond job definitions. The best 45 images submitted were selected for the exhibition and from those 17 favourites were selected by the judges for a feature in this months’s Creative Review. One of those favourites was taken by our very own Nicholla Longley. This is it:

Dragon

The judges commented:

‘The images I picked, like this purple dragon, were chosen because they had some element of humour. I wasn’t looking for the best made photographs but more photographs that made me smile or do a double-take. Have you ever seen a purple dragon?’

Nicholla said:

Erm I’m not sure it’s that exciting how I found the Dragon but this is it…
I was at a point to point in Kingston Blount having a drink and betting on some horses. Everyone was watching a race including me, when I turned around and saw that the inflatable dragon (it was St George’s day) was looking in the same direction as if it was watching the race too. This made me laugh, then I noticed the little girl in front of him and it almost looked like the Dragon was staring at her, as if he was considering eating her up whilst everyone was distracted by the race.
Overactive imagination on my part, but I still like the pickie.’
