Welcome to Optimism

Urban Pygmy Parakeets

Here at W+K we enjoy all forms of creativity and artistic self
expression. On occasion we even go so far as to write about them on
this blog.  This morning some of our more alert members of staff
noticed that we’d been paid a visit by a mysterious and little-known
breed of purple pygmy parakeet over the weekend.

Two plucky fellows
complete with berets and military uniforms (apparently this season’s
must have items in Shoreditch, alongside meggings, fixed gear bicycles
and severe Agyness Deyn haircuts) have nested on our first floor wall.
It’s unknown at this time quite how they arrived or how long they
intend to stay for that matter but we have been able to deduce that
they’re probably émigré from sunnier climes – they’ve nested between
air conditioning tubes and seem to be fiercely guarding a generous
stash of rum.

This Is Why We Meet

TIWWMlogobig

We’re really excited to be launching a new project for our window. This Is
Why We Meet
is an investigation, showcase and celebration of collaborative
working practice within the arts. This Is Why We Meet is a collaboration
between Wieden + Kennedy and curating partnership Pat And Trevor,
in association with the University of the Arts London and supported by Nokia.

We have selected 4 students from each college within the University of the
Arts London. Students will become part of a collaborative team and work
together intensively for a one-week period prior to installation in order to
create an interactive piece of work.

Work produced will be exhibited in window at Hanbury Street. The project has started
with Chelsea College of Art and Design (display:
Monday 20th July) and you can follow all their progress here.
