Welcome to Optimism

The women of W+K in not losing netball game shock.

Paul H. Colman, our netball correspondent, writes…

Monday night was a momentous evening for the W+K women's netball team. For the first time ever they didn't lose a game of netball. Admittedly, they didn't win either. But they did avoid defeat by claiming a well deserved draw.

It was my first time supporting the team, so I wisely took my hound for luck. Of course we'll never know if it was the hound that made the difference and helped the team claim their first draw, but several of the players did walk up to me following the game and say "I think it was the hound that made the difference, and helped us claim our first draw".

Following the final whistle the we turned off the floodlights and took as weird a picture as possible to capture the historic moment.

I have a feeling the team will defeat every opponent it meets from now on, and several of the players may even be asked to represent their countries. But that's the future – for now they're just basking in their draw.

Well done netball women. Myself and the hound salute you.

Nike GRID returns

Back in March this year, W+K London, in conjunction with our friends at AKQA and Mindshare, turned London into a post-digital gameboard for Nike Running with the creation of GRID. (You can read a bit about the original strategy and idea here).

Well, it's back. And this time it's bigger and better.

Layering in team-play, extra gameplay elements, a longer timeframe and some surprises along the way GRID 2: Run Your City promises to fire up those running rivalries across London once again.

The game starts on October 22nd. For more information and to sign up, visit http://www.nikegrid.com/.
