Welcome to Optimism

Guardian Pitch

Well, we’ve just finished our pitch for the Guardian.

Guardian20060801

We’ve put in some serious hours over the last few weeks (since the last round) and we’re really proud of what we put together.  We were up until 6am last night crossing our t’s.  Now we’re crossing our fingers.

The meeting itself was a great team effort.  Adam made beautiful work of the trickiest DVD menu of all time.  I (Stuart) started rambling about Castro and Venezuela, for some reason.  Tony knocked Alan Rusbridger’s pencil on the floor and  Michael’s jumper exactly matched the colour palette of our charts (how’s that for commitment to the work?).

And a ginormously humungous (in-joke, sorry) thanks goes to everyone else who put in so much effort to make it all come together.

It was one of those pitches where our love of the brand definitely spilled onto the page.  In a good way.

Here’s this week’s Monday morning podcast of flapdoodle and frippery.  Listen out for an example of ‘Dirty Fan Male’ – somebody reading out real letters sent to porn stars.  All a bit strange.  There’s the odd explicit word, here and there, so sorry about that.  But mainly the word ‘bum’.  Not in an American homeless person sense.
