Mount Yotei

Group account director Alex Conaway writes from Japan, where he’s currently working on a project with W+K Tokyo:

It’s lucky I like sushi, spending all this time over here. (Can highly
recommend fugu – it didn’t kill me, although apparently it can.)

Anyway, whilst ski-ing in Hokkaido (north island of Japan) over Christmas
this mountain was ever present while we slipped through the best powder snow
in the world (dude).  It’s called Mount Yotei, or sometimes Yezo Fuji as it
resembles its larger grand father – Mt Fuji.

So when I opened my curtains from the 32nd floor of my hotel the other
morning I was granted this sight – Mt Fuji looking spectacular over down
town Tokyo.  Special indeed.

we are global agency of the year

Adweek magazine has named Wieden + Kennedy as its global agency of the year.

‘For its ability to grow globally with its independent spirit intact, its strategic management skills and its culturally relevant, award-winning work, Wieden is Adweek’s Global Agency of the Year. These days, the combined shops outside of the U.S. outperform New York and Portland, pushing up global revenue 18 percent from $140 million to an estimated $165 million in 2007. And that’s apparently big enough for a roster of international blue-chip clients,’ says Adweek.

Now poised to thrive on three continents, Wieden
seems well prepared to answer the legendary Jay Chiat question: "How
big can we get before we get bad?"

"We were bad when we were small," Wieden says with a laugh. "I’m wondering how big we have to get before we get really good."
