beastie banquet

nicholla writes:

lisa prince and i had an idea to make a victoriana style boars held jelly mould.  simultaneously, local ceramicists polly and kaorou (whose shop luna and curious is round the corner from us on brick lane) were making a cows head cheese platter…  tom and david put us in touch with each other and we brainstormed ideas for an entire dinner service, playing on casting from real, dead animals and victoriana imagery to make a beautiful banquet dinner set.

Beastie-full-set

polly and kaurou have been casting from dead chickens heads and pigs trotters and similar.  lisa and i have kept our hands clean, but minds grotesque.  its really an ideas collaboration!

nokia and the bicycle thieves

Bicycle thief

This likely lad is one of a gang I caught in the act of nicking a bicycle in Crescent Street, Islington recently. Courtesy of our valued client Nokia, we're all citizen journalists these days, and he was obliging enough to pose for the camera in appropriate 'young offender' pose. As you can see, he was terrified of the consequences of being caught in the act. ('It's a fair cop, guv, but society was to blame.')

I haven't heard anything back since reporting the incident, so thought I'd stick these pics on here, just in case anyone recognises him. (By the way, the bike he's riding here isn't the one that was being stolen, on this occasion at least.)

We've all heard about how cameras in mobile devices have changed the way that news is being reported and disseminated. This is my own little broadcast from the mean streets off the Cally Road.

And off they go, just after I used my Nokia to call the police.
