W+K opens up on mental health

To mark this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, we programmed a variety of workshops and talks to get everyone in the agency involved.

The week started with a Calm Workshop with Mauritz Klaff from The School of Life, which was followed by a ‘mindful marbling’ session with ‘conscious creative organisation’ Patternity. Weds saw Urban Wellness’ nutritionist Nicola Shubrook visit the agency to talk through the role nutrition has on mental wellbeing and the week ended with speaker and author Paul McGregor sharing his deeply personal story and tips on how to better support ourselves and others.

Artwork for the week was designed by W+K’s Kyle Ellis, who created an image palette to represent 16 emotions associated with mental health.

We owe a massive thanks to everyone involved – especially our lovely HR team for making everything happen.

Sir Harrison Birtwistle kicks off W+Ked 2019

This morning, we welcomed Sir Harrison Birtwistle, one of this country’s greatest living composers, into the agency to kick off our latest series of W+Ked speakers

In the 1960s, Harrison shocked the classical world when debuting his opera Punch and Judy and both he and his music have stayed as uncompromising and distinctive ever since.

The composer spoke on his music, influences and staying on the cutting edge of his profession and finished with a thrilling live performance of a piece called ‘Pulse Sampler’, performed by oboist Melinda Maxwell and percussionist David Hockings.

A huge thanks to Harrison, Melinda and David for sharing their knowledge and talents and to the W+Ked team for a properly inspiring start to this year’s speaker programme.
