As part of D&AD’s “New Blood” Festival celebrating new, young creatives, our own Scott Kelly gave a talk about how to “Use Advertising Like it Will Use You” — or, how to get the most out of your time in what can be a demanding, hard working business. Despite the challenges, as Scott shared, it’s possible to use experiences and connections to set yourself up for whatever creative future you imagine for yourself. From being surrounded by people you’re consistently inspired by, to building and making things that are seen by millions the world over, the opportunities can be great if you take advantage of them.

Turning Tweets Into Action

#ThoughtsAndPrayers is a project created by a group of W+Kers from W+K Portland in light of the recent shootings in Orlando, Florida.

It is a response to the tragedy and the slew of Tweets from pro-gun lawmakers offering their “Thoughts and Prayers” to victims and their families. Via a Crowdrise page, the fundraising project calls attention to the lawmakers’ “hollow” Tweets, and the power of these same individuals to do something real and meaningful to prevent gun violence in America.
