As a part of the Nokia N8 launch campaign Wieden + Kennedy has created a mobile app that lets you make music anywhere, with anything.  We made the app super easy to use, so even people with no musical ability can easily make a track. Loop comes preprogrammed with nine basslines to get amateurs looping with ease, and for the more advanced looper, the BPM and pad sounds can be customised.

Once a loop is made, it can be set as your ringtone, or shared on Facebook via Soundcloud. You can hear some of the loops already shared at loopapp.net  The app was created in collaboration with Symsource, who did a great job on the back end. If you have a Nokia N8 or C7, you can download the app for free at Nokia’s Ovi store. Get looping!

Listen to Tony, Kim, Neil and Andy providing vocals in ‘W+K Creative Review Loop’ here.

And to promote the Loop app we decided to create a track in a poodle parlour called, funnily enough, Poodle Loop. The loop was created by musician Warrior One on a Nokia N8, and shot on location in Shanghai, official home of coloured dogs. The film, part demo, part documentary, part music video, was directed by Kim Gehrig of Academy Films. The graphics shown in the film were taken from Loop’s unique interface.

Enjoy – and do download Loop for free if you have a Nokia N8 or C7 at Nokia’s Ovi Store.

The other week, Scott, Natasha, Lucie and I pootled over to Shanghai for perhaps the daftest shoot of my life.  Although our top secret Nokia project doesn't break until next Friday (10th December), if you look carefully at the wall behind us, you might just glimpse a poodle design or two….

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone.

When we were there, we popped into Nokia CD Scott's old office – where I discovered two interesting things:

1    They have a giant fluffy staircase dragon

2    Scott is, in fact, 'The Prince of Shanghai'

Honestly.  Wherever we went, the ladies of Shanghai would throw themselves at him, shouting "It's my husband!" and other such incriminating sentiments.  P.L.A.Y.E.R.

Here's Scott chatting up a poodle.

And here's me, writing the script the evening before the shoot. Maverick.

Other highlights included:

Natasha's face as we lay in a massage parlour, wearing nothing but tiny, paper knickers, as her masseuse asked, 'Would you like me to cup you?' (And they say account handlers never have fun…)

Me, walking straight into a glass door and spending the shoot with a massive egg on my forehead.

And Dan, our hilarious sound engineer from Factory, becoming addicted to massages – gradually working his way through the menu until he reached cupping (oh, that's what she meant) the night before our flight.

Dan
Ouch.

Keep your eyes peeled for the project next week.  We call it 'Loop'…
