The electro-funkiest duo on the planet Chromeo are breaking records with their new record, Drivetime.
Touted as quite literally the world's shortest 'long player', it clocks in at only 121 seconds long, shattering the previous record by an eternity. As other artists stretch out albums to greater and greater lengths with additional tracks, extended remixes and bonus extras, Chromeo are bucking the trend by packing 55 tracks into 2 minutes. All of them killer. No time for filler. It's also physically quite wee, as you can see here:

Inspiration for this concept album came from Chromeo's desire to identify and condense the soul of their music. "People make such a big deal about the White Album because it was so long," they explain. "We just went to the essence."

Although the music is quintessential Chromeo, Drivetime sees the band explore political themes for the first time in their career. "We felt our fans were lost and needed some guidance. They needed to know when to turn, and where to turn, and what direction to turn. It's our role as entertainers to guide them." The track "Turn Left" in particular is a disco anthem that screams defiance.

You can see more in this exclusive behind-the scenes video that shows the band in the studio working on the Drivetime album.

The Drivetime album is available exclusively from the Nokia Ovi store for free download as part of the Own Voice app.

much more ‘cats with thumbs’ fun

There's some quality stuff to be found on the Facebook page of Bertrum Thumbcat, star of our Cravendale 'Cats with thumbs' campaign. Here's a wee selection:

Dear Cravendale:
Look: I am very sweet and adorable and cute, and clearly wouldn't dream of trying to steal anyone's milk. And anyone who says I am, or, in fact, am trying to take over the world is very mean.

That Man gave me lunch. Cat food. He went out. I spiced it up a little. Konnichiwa, my friends. Ah, I love the smell of Sushi in the afternoon.

I could barely sleep (only managed two hours of nap) thinking about the possibilities of both height and travel a good goat could lend me. I have created what I believe to be a very regal mock-up, in order to impress both communities. I might title it "MY KINGDOM FOR A GOAT" in large letters underneath.

Got keys cut. Very good service at the ironmongers. Was a bit worried that they wouldn't serve me – but they took credit cards, so that was fine.
Good. These will help. The cat flap is all well and good, but try getting heavy power tools through that thing…

Thanks to my keys, I have managed to get my impressive new Stihl circular saw outside. Unfortunately, they didn't send the English instruction booklet.
Fortunately, I speak thirteen languages (not including Cat, obviously).
Let's get this show on the road.
