W+K's Alex Holder's Mills & Boon-related project for International Women's day, as blogged about previously, made the bizarre/funny/weird section of today's Metro.

Two young lovers, Alex Holder and Ross Neil, have recreated a series of smouldering scenes from the front covers of Mills & Boon romance novels.

Ms Holder made the three tribute pictures in her home studio, with the help of her boyfriend, Mr Neil, and ‘a lot of fake tan’.

‘Sometimes we sit for hours staring at a sea shell,’ said Ms Holder. 'Other times he’ll hold me by the neck in front of the pyramids. But there’s nothing we like more than nearly kissing each other near some horses.’

Ms Holder, an advertising art director, painted the exotic backdrops herself and staged the photos with her creative partner, Oli.

So far, they have recreated covers from 1985 book Dark Obsession, plus Master Of Marshlands and A First Time For Everything – both from 1991. Mills & Boon romances have been setting pulses racing since 1908.
