This summer, some of the ladies of W+K started a football team. Although most of us had never played football before, we made up for it with enthusiasm and tenacity. With the help of our ever encouraging coach Dave who has taken us from a bunch of squealing girls running after a ball, we have transformed into a proper, highly competitive team of footballers. On Tuesday evening we reached the dizzying heights of the ‘Girls Kick Balls for Africa’ charity cup final on London Fields. Despite some great support, gutsy performances and an unfaltering team spirit, our undefeated cup run was ended by the ‘Mamacitas’ a somewhat feisty Brazilian footballing collective. We learnt some good lessons through our 2-0 defeat, and WKWFC march onwards stronger, and even more hungry for the next win.
You may notice from the photo that we had to slightly ‘customise’ our kit that was donated to the tournament by Puma, we’re always flying the flag for the swoosh. Oh and we don't actually have laser eyes, that's just the flash.
