This year’s E3 marks the beginning of the console war for the next-generation set top box.

Some 70,000 people attended the 3 day show hosted in Los Angeles including our Cheryl and Matt both of whom work on our Electronic Arts account.

Electronic Arts simply stole the show with an amazing stand. Apparently Microsoft were talking about it afterwards, in particular about the ‘360 Experience’ which was the one thing that Xbox was trying to own.

There were of course games galore and fans were thrilled by the prospect of a new Legend of Zelda game ‘Twilight Princess’, Matt in particular…

… this is him wih Zelda. Cheryl got into the spirit of things too.

It wasn’t all about home consoles though. People were also trying out the latest games for Nintendo’s DS and Sony’s PSP. The game attracting the most attention was Nintendo’s DS ‘Nintendogs’, a cute virtual puppy simulator.

But EA’s ‘Spore’ was by far the best game of the show. It was presented by Will Wright who created the Sims. It was in concept development only with no release date as yet but it’s pretty amazing. It is basically a ‘god game’ that is epic in scope and about the evolution of creatures. You can be as creative with it as your imagination lets you be. The computer animates as you go so you don’t rely on creatures from a database – you create your own (it’s called ‘procedural animation’ if you want to get techy). The environments you enter are input by other players. It can support millions of players’ worlds and the focus is on creativity. You’ll have to see it to believe it.

Well, the lady (Ann Nazareth) is no longer there but she has left us with a work of art. The Honda Zoomer is designed to be as bare as possible so the owner can personalize it. This is what it looked like before.

Ann is a fibre artist who can weave all sorts of materials into 3D forms. She has transformed our Zoomer using natural cane. This is what it looks like now.
