Welcome to Optimism

best advertising blogs

This little window onto the world of W+K London is named in this week’s Campaign magazine as one of the best ad-related blogs. They say it’s ‘filled with tantalising titbits about agency life and nights out’. Cheers, guys.

They also rate www.adscam.tyeppad.com. I had a look at this and I see that amongst some amusing ranting about the shallow and venal nature of the ad industry, it also slags off our Blenderman mannequin in reception. http://adscam.typepad.com/my_weblog/2005/06/agency_art_suck.html

(Also see ‘Walk in Stupid’ in our June archives.) George Parker, the American ‘creative consultant’ who writes adscam, seems to think Blenderman is some sort of extravagant bit of corporate art that we’ve purchased in a Charles Saatchi kind of way. Thanks for noticing anyway, George.

Also named in the Campaign piece are www.ad-rag.com and www.saatchikevin.com, the personal website of Kevin Roberts, Chief Executive of Saatchi and Saatchi and apparently a man with a vision for the brand of Kevin.

Elsewhere in Campaign’s blog-tastic current issue, the Opinion column says, Blogs are ‘where the action will be in the future. The smartest agencies will be ready.’

Well, we’re doing our bit to try to keep up.

bombs in London

Chaos today as London has been hit by a wave of terrorist bombs. Everyone here is OK – all accounted for, though not everyone made it to work and getting home may be tricky.
