WK Side is our scheme for bringing people into Wieden + Kennedy from outside the advertising industry for a 3 month trial working period. That way they can learn from us and we can suck their young creative blood. Having been chosen from a long list of people who sent in submissions, the selected interviewees for the next intake all turned up yesterday for a chat, a few introductions and a bite to eat. (Late comers were noted – minus 10 pts). This time all the applicants come from the world of digital, instead of just being a random bunch like the last lot. They were subjected to speed-dating interviews and were given a one hour brief to develop concepts around the idea of "WK Music". Simon Summerscales, the Fat Controller, ignited their creative flames and we even filmed it. (Watch this space and we may post some of it.) They were an interesting lot. One candidate went for a wee about 20 times; sadly no video was captured to attest to this. We were really impressed. Well done and good luck everyone.

Those nice gents and ladies at Mother sent us an apple pie to say congrats for winning the Nokia pitch. Very magnanimous given that they lost out. Now, that’s a nice way to do business. Cheers, nice people from Mother. Nice pie, too. As Kim (The Papster) would say: nice.
