WKside: Week one and a half.
Hello everybody. For our first post rather than telling you all the things you already might know about Wieden’s…how exciting and great it is to be here and how lovely the people are (Oh yes, they are, THEY ARE)…we thought we would share a few of the observations we’ve made in our first week, stuff we came across and all the small bits and pieces you got to learn when being a newbie.
We coped with the tube strike. Kelly lives 2.1 miles away in London Bridge and doesn’t get the tube, but her bus traveled at 2.76 mph. Edd lives 43.2 miles away in Saffron Walden. If he traveled at the same speed as her it would take him 15 and a half hours to get to work. Let’s get out of the city!
That’s why the padded cell is padded.
Kelly has been pestering Seb about what they eat in Germany. She was particularly interested in fish. If anyone of you are as well, here are some easy recipes:
Trout ‘Miller’s Wife Style’: the trout filets are first put into salted milk, then flour and are fried until they have a golden colour. Now pour a dash of lemon juice over them and serve with parsley and melted butter.
Carp ‘Blue’: steam the carp in vinegar, water and white wine. Then add onions, laurel and pepper and cook at a low temperature.
While talking about food, thanks to a bunch of nice clients we can drink or eat Cravendale, Lurpak and Coke all day.
There is a tricky step down the stairs from 2nd to 1st floor. Well, actually there is no step. Pretty mean, isn’t it?
Seb got the first of the Siders’ (also referred to as ‘Sidies’) post. The others were really jealous! So what’s inside the big yellow parcel?
All the stuff that he wasn’t able to take by plane. A smoking labbit, a buddy jesus, an evirob, the battery charger for his camera, a dunny, two pairs of sport shoes, two sport shorts, cigarettes, sugar with hazelnut-flavour, a moka express and kicker, a German football magazine.
There were no mugs in the basement last week.
Though the sun is shining and it’s really warm we thought a lot about Christmas because of our first brief is about Old Spitalfields Market during that time of year. So we’d like to let you know about some stuff we learnt.
First conflicts appeared, as well.
Sarah dislikes bananas, Edd eats 2 a day.
Edd hates working inside, Sarah is often too cold.
Seb is fed up of British bureaucracy and transport inefficiency.
So is Kelly. So are we all.
Kelly graduated last Friday. Congratulations! She has a little head but big brains.
We learned how to use the calendar in Entourage, diligently entered into our diaries. We have the same meetings that’s why we often walk around Wieden’s like this:
First day, pastries and muffins, too nervous. Think about it.
