honda go-karting day
24 teams, 72 drivers and only one first place…
On Wed 8th October Louise, Mark, Shay and Chris made their way down to Buckmore Park in Kent to take part in the annual Honda Go-Karting championships. At a track where many years ago, a young Lewis Hamilton was discovered and taken on to stardom. No stars were discovered on the day in question.
It’s impossible to describe the raw power, thrill & emotion that is "Endurance Karting". But we'll try: going faster and faster on each lap, overtaking and getting into battles with Honda and their other agencies. And with karts that can get up to 70 mph, the race was fast-paced with speedy chicanes, skiddy hair pins, bumping and some downright dirty tactics.
Having starting the race 11th on the grid, we fired ourselves back up to 6th by the final flag.
Ian Armstrong, Simon Hurst and Steve Colling as the Honda team ‘Kneel Armstrong’ won the day and sprayed the losing teams with a bottle of cheap champers while everyone cheered.
A great, great day. Next year we’ll have ‘em.
