Welcome to Optimism

heavy snow causes transport chaos. As usual.

Not in use

Snow-related rant.

It snowed last night, as forecast. This morning the city looks beautiful. But of course, today it's 'extreme weather brings London to standstill'. Why is it that every time it snows London just gives up? There are no buses running today at all, allegedly for reasons of 'passenger safety'.

We have an underground railway system. Not much snow falling underground, but most of The Tube is shut too. We're supposed to be one of the world's great cities but we can't cope with a bit of snow? Presumably Anchorage, Helsinki and Moscow don't grind to a halt all winter. What exactly is London's problem?

Just what we need to kick the economy while it's down – transport chaos that keeps everyone at home.

I hope someone manages to hit mayor Boris with a snowball.
