Welcome to Optimism

Very occasionally, something comes along and makes us go
"bastard! we wish we'd done that!"  But that happened, all over the
office on Friday in the face of the amazing music of Kutiman

Not only is the music lovely (kind of dubby hip hip), but it's been
made in a deliciously open and inspiring way. Kutiman got all of the
source material – from beats, to basslines, from vocals to flutes –
from videos people have posted on YouTube.  Some of them were intended
to be instructional, some were people showing their new bit of musical
kit, some seem to be quite private musings.  Whatever, it all went into
the Kutiman blender, and out popped an album (with ready made videos,
or course).

A proper labour of love. It's worth checking out one tune in
particular. The youtube video of Just a Lady links back to all the
component musical videos that make it up.

Pretty inspiring stuff. Back to work to up our game…

Pepsi

It's ian (perkins) here,  with a round up of the peaks and troughs of nyc ads from last week.
While on holiday I usually try and shut off from work, but I couldn’t help noticing how bad these pepsi ads (and how relevant to our blog this one is).
Optimismmm. I can find nothing about this I like.
I was irked by bad font choice, colour pallette, writing and the new poorly-designed pepsi logo.
Not sure why I feel I have to get this off my chest, but it was annoying to see something so poor, when I know it must have had a fair bit spent on it.

Burger

Burger King on the other hand stood out for being a bit different. See these fun, jap-cool illustrations.
(My brain went – ooh, japan's cool- ooh, burger king's cool).
And that’s as far into my brain as it's good to go.
