dirty old river…
Today Anders, Ed, Robbie, Ronny and Donna went to help clear the Thames river banks of its rubbish with the charity Thames21.
Thames21's aim is to
transform neglected and littered waterways into areas that everyone can
use and enjoy by encouraging all Londoners to treat their waterways
with care and respect.
When we got there we
were told that we may find some antiques, unexploded world war 2 bombs
and other interesting items along with the odd gun or knife. We didn’t. However we did find hundreds of sanitary towels and hundreds of
plastic bags. Nice. We did have a little excitement when I found a
statue from the CN Tower tour from Toronto Canada …but that was as
good as it got, I'm afraid.
It will be displayed in reception if you
would like to take a look at its beauty.
On a serious note it
was quite an eye opener and a massive reminder of how awful plastic
bags are for the environment, so let's all try as hard as we can to stop
using them. Plastic bags are bad.
Anyway we thought we would share a few photos of how it went.
Nice to be able to give something back to the city we work in.
