DAY 12: JINGLE HELL

Well, well… where can we start on this DAY 12 mission? Let’s just say that this one turned out to be a proper problem child. The idea was pretty simple. We wanted to play ‘Jingle Bells’ on Bell Lane to christmasfy the street.

Anyhow we managed to make this super high tech ‘dubi dubi’ motion sensor sound system (below). Yep, it looks like a homemade bomb. The little motion sensor kicks off the joyful tune to passersby.

First attempt, one very Christmas spirited lady reported us to a police.
*egh-ugh*. Failed.

Second attempt, we ran down to the end of Bell Lane hopefully out of her sight.  Annoyingly the sound cable wasn’t long enough to hide the box where we originally planned.
*egh-ugh*. Failed.

Third attempt.
Ok, the sound is working. Motion sensor is working.  Filming people’s reaction to Jingle Bells, so far so good. Then back at WK elves residence, we realised the microphone we were using was not powerful enough to record the Jingle Bells tune with all the street noise.
*egh-ugh*. Failed AGAIN.

By this time we were already running 7 hours behind our calendar schedule. (I shouldn’t have wrote this, maybe no one noticed it?)

Final attempt, we got some technical help from elf Nev and elf Ves. Everything was working fine till an police man stopped us from  filming because we were using a tripod. What? When was the tripod on the street law passed? We cannot use a tripod in a public space now? Elf Ves ended up holding the camera and microphone to shoot.

Oh, jingle hells, jingle hells
Jingle all the way

At any rate, hopefully our local lady is now rocking out to our tune. Nothing stops WK elves!

'Wieden + Kennedy FC' rose to the occasion last night, away at Mile End Park, and knocked 'What If FC' off their pedestal (after our previous loss to them).

After some wise words from manager Capello, the team huddled together for what would be an epic match.  But we soon realised it was more than just a game of footy.  It was war; W+K vs What If.  Advertising vs. Innovation.  Nike vs Adidas.  90 minutes of blood, sweat and tears from both sides.  Benny E scored our first, lobbing the keeper from 30 yards which saw us go comfortably into the second half 1-0 up.  Then James Mc, Dom T, and Steve B each added to the score sheet whilst 'What If FC' managed to sneak in a couple of consolation goals.

Everyone played well, but a special mention to our new keeper Nick L, Karelle and David S for being so solid at the back, Skipper Shay for some decent assists and our man of the match Robbie for working his socks off in midfield.

Final whistle – W+K FC 4, What If FC 2.  Our worthy opponents can only be asking themselves one quesiton this morning, What If??!  We play in again in February 2010…. fans / groupies welcome.
