Welcome to Optimism

wieden + kennedy – pet detectives

This morning, office manager Nat passed on this email from our neighbours:

This afternoon a pale yellow budgie appeared within
a
3rd floor Commercial Street facing flat within The
Cloisters… Very people friendly – it’s made itself at home
& is now
being safely cared for by one of our residents! Have you or anyone in your block/street lost such a
bird
today? If so please reply to The Cloisters email
& we’ll put you in
touch. Equally if you know someone who keeps budgies – who
may not
have yet realised the loss – please advise.
Regards – Hilary @ The
Cloisters
Then this afternoon W+K's answer to Ace Ventura, Helen Foulder bumped into the budgie's owner putting
up a 'lost' poster opposite our offices.  The budgie has now been returned
home.

If we've achieved nothing else
today we're responsible
for the safe return of this little fella. His name is Squorkie.

Budgie
Our work here has been good.

Owner Hilary at the Cloisters says, “The level of concern and
the amount of help received in getting the little chap back home
certainly restores one’s faith in human kind!”

The Dream Factory at W+K

Honda (UK) has launched 'Dream Factory' – a celebration of the UK's most exciting, cultural innovators.  Each of the pioneering individuals, musicians, artists, film-makers and social entrepreneurs share common traits with Honda's new CR-Z – the world's first sporty hybrid.

Honda is celebrating the inspiring stories and ground-breaking achievements of 20 British Cultural Engineers through a website, a limited edition book and eclectic exhibition in London and a series of nationwide workshops.

The Dream Factory activity follows three themes that reflect the values of the CR-Z hybrid coupe and the Cultural Engineers: delivering fun and great design with a modern conscience.

These three traits are apparent in the work of the Cultural Engineers, from the guerrilla gardening movement founded by Richard Reynolds, to the Rwandan music record label of Dicken Marshell, or the idea of ColaLife to transport medicine to developing countries using the world's biggest soft drink distribution network.

As a tribute to the Cultural Engineers and their inspirational work, a collaborative exhibition is being held from 21-30 May at The Dray Walk Gallery, Brick Lane.  Visitors will be able to experience the work of the artists, musicians and designers first-hand, view exclusive films in the on-site cinema and witness previously unseen creative collaborations.

Following the launch of the exhibition and the limited edition book in London this week, a selection of the Cultural Engineers will hold creative workshops at locations across the UK – including W+K's own Platform in East London.
