There are just about two weeks left to apply to The Kennedys — your chance to work in our W+K London office and produce work in response to real client briefs alongside our team. We're looking for candidates from diverse backgrounds and of various talents — remember, you need not have worked in an agency or have studied advertising to be considered.

While we’re launching the Kennedys for the first time in the UK, it has been running for five years at W+K Amsterdam. Christopher Cryer is a copywriter and former Kennedy who arrived at the Amsterdam office by way of the UK. In the latest instalment of our interview series with ex-Kennedys, Chris shares some special moments from his time as a member of the Class of ‘15.

1.  What were your impressions after a week here in the program?

Chris: How am I going to explain to my grandparents what I do here? They’re going to ask.

2.  What was your favourite piece of work you produced here?

Chris: A short story that three of us wrote about balloons. And a Nike campaign for the Middle East.

3. What was the most memorable thing that you guys did in The Kennedys house?

Chris: I second Andy’s motion – it’s the indoor velodrome.

But a close second was the drunken midnight rescue of our stolen flamingo from our downstairs neighbours. They’d left it on their patio, so we used a rope to lasso its neck and haul it back up to our balcony. It was a beautiful moment full of teamwork and inebriation.

4. What was the most surprising thing you learned about yourself while working as a Kennedy?

Chris: I’m a lot more comfortable at nude sauna festivals than I had previously thought.

5. What are you working on now?

Chris: Warning people about the impending dystopian nightmare that humanity faces, under the guise of promoting a computer game.
