Our friends, design and innovation consultants Seymour Powell have made a  film to raise a lot more noise around two key issues:

One: Design Technology being taken off the core school curriculum (where it has been obligatory for the last 20 years). This is disastrous for the UK's aspirations as an innovation nation.

Two: Government (probably through oversight) throwing the innovation baby out with the education bathwater, by not finding a way to recognise the importance of many courses which are also critical to innovation – namely design, and protecting funding exclusively for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.

The film includes rhetoric from Sir John Rose, Sir James Dyson, Sir Paul Smith, Ian Callum, Dick Powell and Rich Seymour and many others. It's only seven minutes long, so please watch it while you are eating a lunchtime sandwich.
