weather crisis: stay in your homes, citizens!
We just haven't got the hang of winter in the UK, have we?
What the media is telling us:
Yahoo says: Trains from London Waterloo were severely delayed, with one station
staff member telling commuters: "You may as well tear the timetable up."
Staff
at London Bridge rail station told Sky News Online, as more snow was
forecast for later today, the commute home for thousands was looking
more dire. They advised to avoid travel this afternoon at all costs.
What it's actually like in Spitalfields, London:
A half-hearted quarter of an inch of pathetic slush. Is that all it takes to bring London to a halt?
Related question: why is icy weather always referred to as 'treacherous'? In what way exactly has winter betrayed us with this entirely predictable cold spell?
OK, end of moan. This blog is supposed to be optimistic. I'm sure the sun will come out tomorrow.
