Last week students from Hyper Island, Sweden held their Island 2 Island event at W+K to showcase some of their Experience Technology projects they have been working on.
Each group of students was assigned an object and told to create an interactive project around it.
There were four groups that exhibited work.
One exhibit let you control the weather. Very handy here in London!
They used sensors that detected the height of your hand which let you change the weather projected on the screen in front of you.
Another project allowed you to create a Jackson Pollock style painting using a Wiimote which you could upload and share with your friends on Facebook.
The Wiimote was also used by a further group to create an interactive light display. They used sensors that looked like a wand and a Power Glove so you could either pretend to be Harry Potter or Iron Man while you moved a cursor projected on the wall to light up triangle installations.
Last but not least, the final group group of students created a machine that allowed users to literally "keep in touch" through the Internet, making long distance relationship more legitimate!
It was a fun glimpse into the future.
Thanks to all the students for sharing their work.
