Working with Cardboard Citizens
A little while ago a couple of our neighbours approached Nat, our head of HR, whilst she was outside the agency to ask what we all did.
They were from Cardboard Citizens, the UK's leading professional theatre company working with homeless people and are based just up the road next to Nude. They thought we might be able to help them out supporting some of their forthcoming projects.
We really liked the work that they do and were happy to get involved to help lend a hand.
We developed a poster to promote their next piece of theatre, Mincemeat.
This is the first in a three year cycle of plays about forgotten histories, all based on real events in which an ordinary person affects a bigger sweep of history.
It is performed by a professional cast including ex-homeless actors.
Here's some info on the play which looks brilliant:
Mincemeat is a narrative that crosses time and territory to find answers to questions of identity and matters of life and death. Cardboard Citizens will take over a Shoreditch warehouse for this production, unravelling the truths and the untruths surrounding a World War Two intelligence operation.
It is on at Cordy House on Curtain Rd from 15th June to the 12th July.
As a thank you for helping them out, Cardboard Citizens would like to offer our blog readers 2 tickets for the price of one in the first week…to book, you just need to call Soho theatre box office on 020 7478 0100 and quote MINCEMEAT FRIEND.
We also gave them some design ideas for a poster to support Bums on Seats, a comedy fundraising event at the Hackney Empire on the 20th June. As you'll see from the work below, it's got a top lineup of comedians so should be a good night.
To book please call the Hackney Empire on 020 8985 2424 or visit www.hackneyempire.com
We're looking forward to doing some more work with Cardboard Citizens in the future as well as going to see their shows
