new boy
No, it's not an old photo of Russell Davies. This is the new Graeme Douglas, who is joining W+K London as Strategy Director. Graeme joins the agency from Carat UK, where he was also Strategy Director.
Graeme began his career at Equinox Communications in 2000, before moving to Zenith Optimedia in 2003 where he worked on P&G and COI accounts. He has spent the last four years toiling in the strategy mines at Carat UK working across accounts including Arla Foods, Smirnoff, Renault, Royal Mail and The Post Office.
At Carat, aside from day-to-day client responsibilities, Graeme set up various internal projects such as designing and running ‘inspiration’ sessions, providing internal ad-hoc consultancy and playing a key role in new business.
In 2007, he was awarded The Excellence Diploma (Distinction) by the IPA, as well as being described as a potential ‘future industry great’ – also by the IPA. His thesis on ‘what brands can learn from religion’ was published by Campaign Magazine in November 2007. You can read it here: Brand New Religion.
Graeme said: ‘Whilst I'm sad to be leaving Carat, the chance to help develop the comms strategy discipline at one of the most creative and dynamic agencies in the world was too exciting to turn down.’
We said: 'We're delighted that we've managed to persuade Graeme to join W+K. He shares our belief that innovative media thinking should be at the heart of the creative process.'
All that stuff about him above is so impressive that we have to point out that, unfortunately, his hair is rather less lush than that of our other new recruit, Martin Cole.
Graeme also has a blog: Planning For Fun. Because planning CAN BE fun.
