So we found this lying around the office and we thought – business opportunity…..
We sent a cross-departmental team to check out whether Sweden was indeed
- Modern
- Stylish
- Natural
- And….
- Authentic
…and to see if W+K Stockholm might be a worthwhile (ad)venture. (The Swedes love puns, so stop wincing and get used to it).
First up, we got our 5 point hot shop start up check list out to see what you need for a new agency..
1. Contacts
Having landed in Stockholm we suddenly discovered that Fabien could speak fluent Swedish and that he had several contacts including a brother and two parents. Who knew?
The calls started flooding in.
Here’s Fabien bridging the style and language barriers…
2. Location
We needed somewhere to set up shop. But Stockholm is a third water, so we thought, why have a shop when you can have a boat?
Red Boat Malaren
3. Clients
When you start out in foreign climes, you need some big friends to make the leap with you..
But one big name isn’t enough.
As you may know, we have Space NK in the UK.
Well, we saw a Swedish department store….
….and it looked spacious.
Two clients up and we’re pitching for a local chocolate brand badly in need of some hype..
Our first campaign idea for them is being presented on Monday.
Have a break, have a Plopp.
See you in Cannes.
We also pitched for a new fashion account…
We’re still waiting to hear back on this one.
4. Staff
Yes, we’d picked up some amazing new business wins, but who’s going to do the amazing work?
We embarked on a casting session…
5. Hype
So, what’s left? We have an authentic location, modern staff, natural clients but are we stylish?
Knowing a thing or two about driving business and building brands, we needed hype.
So here we are in Hell’s Kitchen, Sweden’s hottest nightclub creating some.
It’s hard work living the advertising dream, but it looks like those Swedes can help us do it….
Skal!
