Wieden + Kennedy was privileged yesterday to welcome graphic design legend Chip Kidd, who had kindly agreed to visit and give us a talk about his life and work. Chip is associate art director at Knopf, an imprint of Random House, and is responsible for hundreds of famous and groundbreaking book jacket designs.

As well as a brilliant designer he’s a talented writer and witty, entertaining speaker. Damn these polymaths. The talk was entitled: ‘Chip Kidd takes up an hour of your life you will never get back’ or ‘There is a style gland that turns malignant in

Nevada

‘. He took a crowd of W+K staff (and a few guests) through examples of his work, including redesigning the logos for Batman and Superman and creating the cover for the new Paul Simon album.
