Welcome to Optimism

Vicky Featherstone visits W+K

We were lucky enough to welcome Vicky Featherstone, artistic director of the Royal Court, into the agency this morning as part of our W+Ked speaker programme.

Vicky was recently named as the most influential person working in British theatre, as she topped The Stage’s 100 power list, following her swift and galvanising response to the #MeToo movement.

We heard from Vicky about the results of her “No Grey Area” day of action, an influential code of behaviour and the implications – both negative and positive – of true equality. It was a real privilege to kick off the day with such a thought-provoking talk, massive thanks to both Vicky for coming and the W+Ked team for organising.

WIRED’s Andrew Diprose visits W+K

W+Ked, our internal training programme designed to inspire, excite and challenge the team, kicked off with a bang last week as we welcomed Andrew Diprose, Group Creative Director at Condé Nast’s WIRED magazine.

Andrew has worked with the crème de la crème of the publishing world, including GQ, Elle, Esquire, i-D, Tatler and Smash Hits. He popped into the agency to talk about 20 years of seismic change in the publishing industry, including the past and future challenges of print and digital media. He also gave insight into some of his most iconic covers, including WIRED’s Stephen Hawking splash, below.

A fascinating talk from one of the industry’s most illustrious talents – the challenge is on for W+Ked  to follow that up with next’s month’s guest.
