Nokia 'Misfits' Idents
Break

24.11.2009 | New Work

W+K London has created a series of branded idents for Nokia for the first series of  E4’s new comedy drama Misfits. They will run on E4, Channel 4 repeats, online and 4oD, with Nokia connecting fans to the series and its characters through a number of content led initiatives.

The new series features five teenagers who have all been in trouble with the law and been forced to work together at the local community centre as part of a ‘Community Payback’ scheme.  When they group is caught in a mysterious storm they quickly discover that they have developed strange new powers, all except one, who appears to be totally unaffected. The 6-part series shows just how tough life can be when you’re harnessed with a superpower that you didn’t want; that and the fact you’ve got a curfew order.

The series will be further brought to life by engaging with audiences with experiences that that go beyond the 60 minute show. Working in collaboration with the show’s writers and E4’s digital agency, six2start, the characters will upload live stories to Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.

In addition, a Misfits widget that collates all feeds into one place has been developed through Nokia’s Ovi application store and will enable fans to keep up to date with the story in real time. Anticipation and excitement will also be built towards a season finale event; seeding clues that culminate in the end of series Ovi Misfits party for the most dedicated fans.

W+K Launches Plot

11.11.2009 |

Wieden + Kennedy London has launched a line of contemporary jewellery, with a conceptual twist.

Lisa Prince, a planner at W+K who encounters a lot of data in her day to day job, noticed from sitting in the (occasional) boring meeting that the way in which data was being presented was becoming more interesting, and if you squinted your eye a little, even quite beautiful. When Nicholla Longley (an art director at W+K) also noticed the rising standard of information graphics they decided to launch a brand that would bring data and beauty together.

The result is PLOT www.thisisplot.com a brand that takes interesting data and transforms it into wearable art.  Art that enables the wearer to be informed on a surprising subject, and that gives them a story to tell.

As an agency, Wieden + Kennedy is always looking for the opportunity to work in new ways that are beyond traditional advertising channels. This year alone the agency has designed windows for Selfridges department store, launched a product range and designed a unique, generative, transmedia identity for the onedotzero film festival, which manifested itself into an interactive experience.

The first PLOT line to launch is a limited release of 30 necklaces that celebrates the humble data behind mighty economies: commodity prices. Each piece is lovingly handmade by Hannah Havanna in her London studio.  http://www.garudiostudiage.com/hannah/index.htm

Each piece shows the historic price of the material in which it is was made. At first glance your gold necklace is simply a striking graphic shape. At second glance you can inform the admirer that it is actually the graph for gold prices from 1979-2009 and that Tiananmen Square caused the peak in 1989.

•    There are 5 pieces in the range. SILVER, GOLD, SILVER & OIL, GOLD & OIL, LEAD
•    Each piece is handmade by Hannah Havanna in her London studio.
•    They are available to buy from
o    Luna & Curious, Brick Lane http://www.lunaandcurious.com/
o    Beyond the Valley, Newburgh Street, Carnaby Street. http://www.beyondthevalley.com/
