W+K Wins at ANNAs with
Nike Rugby World Cup Ad

26.11.2007 | Awards

Our Nike print ad has won at the ANNAs for the month of October 2007. Every month a leading creative director nominates ads they've seen in national newspapers. They ignore the stale and clichéd. And go straight for campaigns that cut through the clutter.

Executive Creative Director at WCRS, Leon Jaume, said:

"Sorry, runners up, but in the month of the epic Rugby World Cup only one ad was ever going to win. A stirring combination of belligerence, scale and humour, the Nike ad perfectly captured the spirit of a wonderful event.

Admittedly, there were some nasty moments early on in the tournament when Nike and their agency must have been weeping into their pints at the apparent hubris of their message. But, as we know, the boys came good.

The "not without a fight" line was brought to life on the pitch, and sport and advertising were served handsomely . "
